Coupled modeling at ECMWF

Date: 21.08.2015

Time: 13:00 - 14:00

ECMWF's primary mission is to produce the best possible weather forecasts for the medium-range. In order to do so we need an accurate representation of the lower boundary condition from the ocean (and land). Similarly the ocean states is to a very large degree driven by the atmospheric forcings so to accurately model the air-sea interaction we will need a coupled atmosphere-ocean model. In this seminar I aim to present what we presently do in terms of coupled modelling and give an outlook on what we plan to implement in both for the intermediate future and on a slightly longer time scale.
